for those who have found moonlighting jobs as recent graduates of dental school (but attending residency programs), do you have any advice, tips, ideas on how to attain these positions? thanks.

I have heard that some residents moonlighting while they are in the program, but you might want to verify with each program to see if they allow you to do that.

Another option for the extra income, only in some programs though, is to be helping in a research dept. (if available), or teaching within the school for undergrads if they have evening classes.

Hi!

please bare with me... does moonlighting just mean.... oral surgery? or am I way off....? lol

Moonlighting means working in an office/clinic while in residency/working during the day. The term "moonlighting" comes from the fact that most find these part-time jobs in the evening or night, hence during the moonlight. You can also "moonlight" during the weekends if you are not on call, etc in your residency. There are some residency programs that discourage/don't allow moonlighting. Hope this helps.

Cool, thanks! I will be attending Dental School in the Fall 2007, but really want to be an oral surgeon - hence the name, haa .. Thanks for your time, have a great summer!

having a tough time finding a moonlighting job.. would it make sense to find a job as a hygienist if ther eis nothing out there for a parttime weekend dentist? just want some thoughts.
