I am in New York. I haven't taken any classes for Pharmacy Tech and want to take the exam. Do I need to take classes or training before I take the exam?
How do I study for the exam?
What are the procedures for being a certified tech in New York?

If you're in pharmacy school, as your tagline states, why would you want to be a certified technician? Wouldn't your intern license trump that of a pharmacy technician?

Hi there. I am in Arizona. I am assuming "the exam" is the PTCE.

Do I need to take classes or training before I take the exam?

Nope. Experience is helpful, but not required. I passed with no training or pharmacy experience, only self study.

How do I study for the exam?

There have been some very helpful threads - even very recently - that covered this exact topic. In general terms, I got a book from the library, and I'd suggest studying pre & suffixes to help identify drugs, as well as a top 200 list. Focus on conversions & other "math type stuff" and on reading a prescription.

What are the procedures for being a certified tech in New York?

Google "New York Board of Pharmacy." The top hit should be your state's BoP. Check there for the definitive answer.

Remember that states generally "license" - you would get your license from the NY BoP. The PTCB "certifies" through passing the PTCE.

Is this an advertisement? Or a joke? 😕
