Even when I type my essay and post-secondary experiences right onto the online AMCAS app, ? marks appear whenever there would be an apostrophe. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Thanks

I never did figure out how to fix that last year, they just stayed in my essay...along with the run-on paragraphs and other formatting that was lost, I think schools understand that this is beyond your control.

{edit} Oh, I just remembered, at one interview the faculty member showed me the "official" application that they get from AMCAS and those formatting issues that were on my print-out weren't on the school?s (hee hee) version. So a second reason not to fret, my pet 🙂

Also, it would be a good idea to take out any apostrafes that are used in contractions, b/c I learned it is always bad to use contractions in essays. 😛 But if you need to keep the apostrafes for possesive words (or whatever they're called), it won't be a problem according to NineSixteen. 😀

I typed mine in Word then copied it to notepad, reformatted it, and copied it from notepad into the application and did not have any problems. So you might try that. I did have ?'s show up in places where my official AMCAS grade should have come up. So the application only calculated my GPA for about half the classes I took. I called about it and they said it has happened to a lot of people and I just have to submit it and they'll go through and enter the grades. They seem to be having a lot of problems with the application in general. Guess that is why the date to submit has been moved back? Good luck.

just edit the entries in your amcas app to replace [?] w/ ["] or [']

Thanks. Unfortunately, when I typed it directly into the space, it still had question marks. But, I figured it out. I deleted the whole thing and clicked "add" to rewrite it. I think it wasn't taking the corrections when I edited post-secondaries that I had already finished.

Premed,
there's a whole thread we have put up for AMCAS questions, yet I keep seeing you posting AMCAS questions in separate threads. Anyway, it's your choice, I can't tell you what to do, but perhaps you might get more responses to your questions if you put it up there instead?? ::sigh:: I'm just being a pain b/c I am judging you based on your "ivy league comment." And then I saw you posting the SAME thread in two different forums, like one wasn't enough?? Anyway, like I said it's a free country and what you do is your choice.

Just a thought from a fellow SDN'er. 🙂
