Hello everyone. I applied to the University of Toledo's SURF program about a month and half ago now. March 25th was the day that they said acceptance/rejection letters would go out. Well that day came and went and on March 26th I emailed the director and inquired about my status. She replied to me that the committee was still making their decisions. But now its been like three weeks since that time and I haven't heard a thing from them. I know I need to be patient and I have been but knowing whether or not I got accepted is essential to my plans for the summer. Is it okay if I email her again and ask politely about my status? Thanks so much for any feedback!

Of course it's okay. They gave you a date to expect answer, they didn't follow through, you've been patient, go ahead and ask. You need to be able to plan for the rest of your summer.

Thanks so much for the advice! I emailed her this:

Hello again! I am very sorry if I seem desparate/nosy but I was just inquiring again about the status of my SURF application. I am completely sympathetic to the fact that you and the committee are extremely busy and I am definitely able to be patient. I am just trying to plan last minute for summer (such as whether I am staying in Toledo or not, etc.) and was just curious about any updates. Thank you so much for your time and any info!

I think I consistently use too many exclamation points in my emails to people lol. It makes me look like I am super hyper

I think you stated your case very clearly (not hyper but enthusiastic about the program 😉) and the director should be sympathetic to your situation as well
