How do I increase my GPA?

Hi so I recently made a post with an overall consensus that I should retake my classes to boost my GPA. Now I just found out that my college doesn't average in courses taken more then once above a D- and it's only C/C+ courses that have given me the most trouble with my GPA. Meaning that if I retake the class it won't mean anything. So in this case should I take on another (easier) major or do a post bac program? My previous majors were bio and chem so I was thinking of adding on maybe a psych or sociology 3rd major.

The grade replacement policy is separate from your school's policy. If you have retaken the course and it shows on the transcript, AACOMAS will replace those C/C+ courses. What are your cGPA/sGPA now? Have you finished your undergraduate degree?

Depending on the answers to those two questions, I would advise against post-bacc/SMP or adding a third major. You should just retake those courses and make sure your GPAs are at least 3.3. Do well on MCAT then you should be able to land some interviews.

If you take an easy second UG degree, how would that let us know that you can handle a medical school curriculum????

It's not what YOUR colleges does, but AACOMAS. Any science course retaken will mean only the higher grade will be accepted. You can do retakes anywhere. Do your homework.

It's not what YOUR colleges does, but AACOMAS. Any science course retaken will mean only the higher grade will be accepted. You can do retakes anywhere. Do your homework.

You can't retake courses at Brooklyn College, it won't at all be incorporated into your GPA. I would post a picture of the email from the academic advisement department that tells me this but that seems pretty excessive. I'm looking into masters programs currently if you have any advice on what kind of masters degree appeals to Med schools the most I would appreciate it.

Goro wasn't referring to your school policy. The GPA calculated by your college doesn't mean anything since AACOMAS has its own policy. The whole purpose of AACOMAS verification is to calculate your GPAs. How do you think people with transcripts from multiple schools get their GPAs? You could take courses at any post-secondary institutions and have your grades replaced as long as they are the same course. I would strongly suggest you to read through the AACOMAS application guide and the grade replacement policy to familiarise yourself with the process.

I'm a fan of SMPs, especially those given at med schools. They are, in essence, a back door into med school, provided that you ace them, and and do well on MCAT. they're a dime a dozen. If you're in NYC, I believe that Mt Sinai has one.

Brooklyn College, eh? How the Film program there? Back in 1984 I helped a friend shoot a 30 min 1 act play on 16 mm. Got it into the can, but then he became terminally immature.
