So I volunteered at a hospital 4-5 hours a weeks for a semester, took 2 semesters off to do other activities and schoolwork, then started volunteering again after the gap. Is there a way to indicate that this activity was non-consecutive? I don't want to list it as 2 diff. activities since it is the same thing.

Also, I haven't even looked at the app. I won't be applying until this summer, it was just something on my mind.

I think you can just list the start date - "until present", and mention in the description that you stopped for two semesters. It might also be helpful to list the total hours you volunteered.

Some other possibilities:

1) List only the most recent date span in the header, giving hours per week in the appropriate box, and then in the narrative list both date spans, with the total hours for each, and then a grand total at the end of the space.

2) List the first beginning date and last, most recent date, but then average out the total hours over the 1+ year time span, so long as it comes out to at least 1 hour per week. In the narrative you can write the same as in suggestion #1 to give a clearer idea of when you actually did the activity. If it comes out to less than 1 hour per week, then don't fill in the hours/week box.

Thanks everyone. I didn't know that there was a "narrative" section in which I could explain it more.
