Was dissapointed when i got my scores to see that i recieved a 26 this last MCAT. Breakdown was P 7 V 9 B 10. God i hate physical. Am i competitive in the DO market? I have about a 3.25 ugpa, have been volunteering in a hospital, and have multiple volunteer experiences. Please be honest.

Apply broadly and you should be able to get in somewhere. Work on your interview skills and have a solid PS and secondary. You are proabably an average applicant at best at some schools and slightly below average at others. There are many students in DO schools with your stats so don't get discouraged.

Try to stand out with showing interest through Open House, get a DO letter if possible, have a solid PS and solid secondaries, rock the interviews you get. This should help you stand out.

Your GPA is a little low, as well as your physical sciences. You can get in somewhere if you apply to enough places early.

Plan to retake the MCAT in August.

I'd apply to almost all the DO schools (~20) and I'd bet on you getting in to one or two programs. I think some of them have mcat averages well below 26.

Good luck,
Johnny

I think that your 26 is above average for DO schools. I believe that I saw once that the average score for DO is 24. I think that you should do pretty well.

Go for it. 26 is average for most schools. There are many success stories for applicants with a GPA and MCAT in your range. Don't be disheartened. Concentrate on making yourself an attractive applicant. Get that AACOMAS done and over with as soon as you can without errors. You'll do fine.

you see, its hard for us to draw a picture of you to "see how you loook" without looking at your application in its totality.

If u want a half obstructed view of how you look JUDGING BY JUST your MCAT and GPA, I think most would agree that the composite numbers look okay, but the breakdown of your MCAT scores might be a bit troublesome for adcoms.

I agree with the rest of the posters, that your key is going to be to apply early (as in like you should have already submitted) and return those secondaries same day or next, apply to as many schools as you can without starving yourself to death, and follow up with the schools till you can eek out some interviews.

Good Luck!!

Apply early, have our secondaries out within a week of receiving them, and practice your interviewing skills using the interview feedback on SDN. You are sure to get in somewhere.

MCAT is OK, but not great. GPA is below average. In reality, there are quite a few people in DO school now with your stats. Work on your interviewing skills. Learn to sell yourself and you have a good chance.

You should apply to broad range of schools. I think you still have chance of being accepted this cycle.

I agree your MCAT is good for DO schools. No section less than a 7, competitive overall score. Your overall GPA is on the low side, what is your sci gpa? Your experience may draw attention away from your GPA though. I don't think all is lost. I think you still have a chance--so it would be worth it to apply early and broadly. I would not retake the MCAT.
