How do I prove my manual dexterity?

I am new to the forum but have been constantly following all discussions related to dentistry. I really some words of wisdom from those who have successfully faced the interview process.

I have interviews scheduled at Indiana and Tufts in the month of January. My PAT score is low, it is 15 but the rest of my scores are good enough(AA 19). My overall GPA is 3.92 and my science GPA is 3.90.

Is there anything concrete that I can do to prove that my manual dexterity is really good and absolutely not the way it appears from the score! I am good with sketching, craftwork and a lot of related activities. Will it be wise for me to take something which I have made with my hands to the interview? Any other suggestions are more than welcome!

Through down a piece of soap before the interviewers and as they look on in astonishment craft a miniature David or Pieta. Just joking, of course. During my interviews the topic of manual dexterity never really emerged (usually they loved to discuss my art background). Your experience with sketching, craftwork, and the like would make for a great response. If you would like you could take along photo's of your work or maybe something small that wouldn't be a hinderance as you trek around. Best of luck! 👍 P.S. Welcome to SDN!!

i agree. it's always good to bring interesting stuff to show off at an interview, as long as it's appropriate.

the PAT section does NOT test your manual dexterity at all. it is more a test of your visual perception abilities.

If you are looking for something to put down on the AADSAS for the question that refers to manual dexterity, I would suggest putting down that you play video games. I did not get any grief for this in any of my interviews. In fact, it usually led to a nice conversation with the interviewers.

dont listen to the previous posts.......you need to tell them yourself why you think you have exeptional manual dexterity....these previous posts are from people with great gpas and dats.....if your a regular guy like me....you need to impress them and go ahead and without question, tell them you are great with your hands.
