I have 38 days until my exam and I am freaking out a little bit. I took Exam 1 on bootcamp and got a 22 on OC and a 20 on GC. I then took Exam 2 and got a 17 OC and 18 GC. I don't understand how my scores went down so much from the last exam. I have really good notes and I don't want to rewatch the videos. Any recommendations? I am sort of on a time crunch at this point.

Do not rewatch videos and/or worry about your practice exam scores. Keep doing practice problems, and understand why you got the problems wrong and redo them. This method is not fun, but it yields results. Again, do NOT worry about your practice scores.

Don’t freak out just keep doing problems and learning from your mistakes. I got a 17 on the first BC organic test but I got a 22 on the real dat

Did you take the 2007 ada exam? If so how does it compare to the dat when it comes to the sciences? Also how’d you study bio and QR?

My advice is to go through the DAT Destroyer book at least twice.

OC will then be one of your easiest section in the exam 🙂

I also just posted my personal DAT breakdown as well. With 38 days, you can DEFINITELY improve your score.

Don't freak out!

Nah I did 2009 exam (only SNS). Score wise it was pretty accurate for me but I actually did score higher on the real dat in organic. The 2009 organic section had 1 or 2 really strange questions.

For bio I really just used a mixture of BC short notes and Destroyer Bio Notes. Tested myself with BC tests and qVault tests. I liked qVault for bio.

I hate math, QR was my lowest section at 18. I couldn’t stand learning math again. I did the first 5 tests in math destroyer and tests 1-4 on BC. The math on the DAT was easier than what I was expecting, they definitely loved their probabilities and QC questions, know how to do those.

Oh and one last thing, DONT UNDERESTIMATE READING. I’m a really good reader. I have fast comprehension speeds, but man this one passage I got was brutal. Practice reading scientific articles!

With 38 days left, I would say that you have more than enough time to bring those numbers up. Like mentioned before, I would not recommend rewatching the videos you already have. My experience with the chemistry section in the DATBootcamp practice exams allowed me to find out that you can break down what is tested into a couple of categories; OCHEM: defining/differentiating between Sn1/2, E1/2, Markovnikov/Zaitsev, Reactions, Aromatic/anti/non, Most/least acidic/basic compound, resonance structures, HNMR/CNMR/IR, radicals, and TLC plates (this one came up more frequently than I'd expect it imo). GenChem: acid/bases, redox rxns, nomenclature, and so forth... Once you break it down into simple categories, then you can really hone in on what you're struggling with. In addition to this, I think that the general consensus is that the chemistry section (both general and ochem) are a lot easier on the real DAT than on DATBootcamp. As in there was almost no trick questions on the real thing. Don't freak out about all of the minor and obscure details, pick up on patterns and you should do great! I didn't particularly excel in the chems throughout my undergrad, but I did quite well on this section on the real thing.

Note: this was my personal experience with it. Everyone studies and learns differently so take this advice with a grain of salt. The more you psych yourself out, the more unnecessary stress that you add to the process. As long as you take it day by day and feel as though you've progressed at the end of those days then you should be fine.

I brought my OC scores from 17 to 24 on BC then got a 30 on the real test. I watched Mike's vids several times over and took notes on it every time. Then every time I got a BC test problem wrong I would bookmark it and watch khan academy videos on them. If I got it wrong again I would search out similar problems in destroyer and attempt them until I could do them correctly. You need to find out what you don't know and why you're making the mistakes. If you get the same type of problem wrong twice or more times then you need to devote more time and energy to building your knowledge base.
