1) Can you guys give me some effective tips to tackle Physio and Biochem. I'm currently using Guyton and Hall for Physio along with a Netters Physio atlas. For biochem, I'm using Harpers and Lippincotts.

2) I wanted to know if some of you guys think it worthwhile to take notes from the textbook? (as both these subjects are so vast that it would take hours to make notes for just one chapter).

3) What's the best way to tackle such vast subjects? I mean I don't know how you guys did it....and moreover remembering so much....??!!!!! I respect all you guys who've passed these subjects for they are so tedious and painstaking...

No syllabi at your school? I just memorized the syllabi to get through both of the subjects. Big Costanzo is great for physiology, Guyton is probably too dense for physio. Lippincott (I don't know if it's Harper's and Lippincott's) is great for biochemistry.

Agree. In addition with physio master the concepts and know all equations..

With Biochem Id say just force yourself to lOVE it ...No matter what!

Yes those soft covered Lippincott books are popular for both subjects.. :luck:

Yeah I found that Guyton was just too intense. But I never knew Lippincotts pulibshed a Physiology series?? I just know that they had reviews for Immunology, Micro and Pharmacology.

Other than big Contanzo, which textbook would you recommend?

I think that Lippincott is the publisher of the BRS series, which is dynamite for physiology. Costanzo is also the author of BRS physiology, which is referred to as "baby Costanzo."

I'm not sure if you're going to find too many other recommendations other than Big Constanzo, it's pretty awesome. The diagrams are great, and are the explanations. She is clear, concise-- it's a great text.

what worked for me for biochem was writing everything down on a huge whiteboard.. did this mainly with metabolism.. this way you could study glycolysis/krebs/oxphos all on ONE board instead of flipping thru 50 pages.. i used different colors for enzymes/coenzymes/inhibitors/substrates etc
