I was waitlisted at my top choice and Id like to show them that I really want to go to that school. How do I go about that? And who would I send the email to? Also, do u think an email that emphasises how desperate I am, will make a difference?

In all seriousness... it's still early in the game. I suggest wait it out until the next batch of acceptances. You can send a letter of intent but they might not read it or care. It could end up on the ad coms desk waiting for more stuff to pile on top of it.
