Hi all, so I have not yet shadowed any doctors (thats in the works for this year) but I have had a chance to talk to a family friend who is a pediatrician in alabama and EM dr who I met while volunteering. I am putting together a sort of profile of doctors from different specialties to get a good idea and picture of what medicine is. But how do I communicate this to a school during the application process? Or, should I leave this for an interview?

If you haven't applied yet, then you list all your shadowing on the application, under "Other," listing each specialty, physician name, and number of hours.

If you have sent in your application, you can communicate any ongoing improvement in your application either by update letter (e-mail or snail-mail) or during interview conversations. If you send letters, you can also include recent grades, augmentations to other ECs, why the school is perfect for you, and how you look forward to an interview invitation (or acceptance).
