How do Med Schools look at Freshman Admits vs. Transfers

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If the transfer student did well in the CC, and then did well in the UC it doesn't matter. I did way better at UC Berkeley than at the CC. I also took the second half of my premed requirements at UCB, physics and Ochem plus a ****load of science classes in which I acheived an even higher gpa than at the CC. Now if someone takes all their pre reqs at CC it doesn't look so good or if they do really well at the CC then mess up at the UC. But most often, I see transfers the most dedicated students at my school. I feel like they mature faster and get serious earlier in life than people that go straight to a UC. Freshman are so annoying.

Med schools know that generally it's easier to do well in the pre-med courses at community colleges. If someone transferred from a CC but did most or all of their premed reqs at the UC and did well, that person would be looked upon favorably. If they took ALL their premed reqs at the CC, however, that doesn't look so good. Don't worry about it...your dedication and hard work will be noticed 🙂
