And how important is scribing?
cGPA is 3.6, sGPA is 3.5
mcat is 506 (124 CARS)
Florida resident
This cycle I got a couple interviews, did poorly on them, rejected from both.
I had a 'recommended' ranking in my pre committee letter, which is one of the lowest given. I already spoke to him and he said he would redo it if I reapplied.
2015-2016 Application ECs:
~350 hours clinical volunteering
~ 100 hours shadowing
Reapplying: 2016-2017 Application ECs:
~ 2000 hours clinical employment
~ 500 hours research, no pubs
~ 1000 hrs clinical volunteering
~400 hours nonclinical volunteering, service to local community and my hispanic background (not URM)
~200 hours shadowing
~300 hours non clinical employment
--------------------
Now I got an opportunity to also start scribing but it would make it to where I have hardly any free time, and with the hospital job I already have, I don't see it being too important.
I also was told by a few people afterwords that my personal statement was bad, so I'd redo that completely.
I applied to 18 schools last year, would up to to maybe 40 this year.
Are my chances much higher or not much at all? And is it okay to decline the scribe offer or do I need it?
Thank you.
