This is strictly speaking for Osteopathic schools.

-Summer research internship (400 hrs)
-SI Leader over 3+ semesters (450 hrs)
-1 year as food industry job (500+ hrs)....does this even count? lol

-120 clinical volunteer hours (SICU, Ortho, IM, ER)
-Lunch Mentor for troubled elementary school student over course of 1 year (15 hours)
-Volunteer at local Wildlife rehab center (~50 hrs)

-Shadowed a Orthopedic MD (21 hrs)
-Shadowed a IM DO (20 hrs, will do more)

-Should have LOR from the DO, 2 science profs, 1 non-science prof, and my boss at work.

Is there any glaring weakness? More clinical or shadowing hours needed? For reference, my AACOMAs GPA should be ~3.84 overall, ~3.88 science.

Thanks!

Looks like you have the bases pretty much covered. You have a little of everything. If I was in your shoes the two things I would keep working on is shadowing and any type of clinical experience. I think those two experiences translated strongest into being a strong DO applicant. The more experience you get in those two things, the easier it is to write secondaries and discuss stuff in interviews.

Solid grades btw. Nail that MCAT and you are golden.

jesus dude. Get a 30 on mcat, go MD, and never look back.

Even a 28-29 might work.

My GPA for MD route would be 3.65/3.58....so the 3.84/3.88 is due to grade replacement. 😀
Still depends on your MCAT then. Even with a 3.65, if you get a 30 or higher then you might have a serious shot at some schools, especially your state schools.

If money is ok, there is nothing wrong with applying to a bit of both.
