How do people usually find summer research programs?

I'm looking for paid summer research programs but I'm having trouble finding much in my search. I'm specifically interested in plastics and google search really only yields 1 or 2 relevant results. What's the typical way one goes about finding these opportunities?

Outside of google searches, AAMC has a database of research opportunities you can search through
