How do post-Dec. interviews work?

Can anyone from previous cycles explain the post-Dec 1 interview process. Do schools wait until first round offers are turned down before setting up the later interviews ? Are we now in a lull period where the pre-Dec. interviews have been given out and the post Dec 1 interviews haven't really started? When do offers for the post Dec 1 interviews usually start?

it all really depends. most schools that i've seen schedule into post dec. months by looking at previous years data and making invitations based off of what they anticipate will happen. if it is a post dec. state school interview, chances are that it'll end up being an interview for a wait-list spot. private schools are more unpredictable.

as you go further into the cycle, it comes down to deposit numbers.

every school is diff. some wait to send out post-dec interviews, some have already started filling up their dates. some are pretty much done filling up all their post-dec interview spots... (case western).. Just check their fb group. They pretty much have few spots left for post-dec interview dates. haha GOOD LUCK!!!

I had a similar question myself.. I wonder if post dec interviews usually mean waitlist or if you're more likely to receive acceptance since schools only have a few sppts left & are more selective when giving interviews..
