How do schools find out about your EC / Work experience?

Ok so Im kind of new to the whole application process (going to be applying next cycle), but i have already started filling out my AMCAS form so I dont have to worry about certain parts of it later. My question is: is the AMCAS the only place that I can input my EC activities? Is there a spot on the secondaries for them too? It seems like 15 spots might not be enough to cover all my jobs, clubs, and activities. Please tell me if Im missing something. Thanks!

Some secondaries will ask you about your ECs, but you're generally required to discuss activities that were already listed on your AMCAS. A lot of secondaries ask you a blanket question (e.g., is there anything else you would like the committee to know?), so I guess you could put extra info there, but that seems like a waste.

You have to group things together under one activity. You might, for example, use one slot for all of your jobs and simply list them there. Same thing for research. Unless you've done a superhuman amount of stuff, 15 slots is enough.

some schools have a separate section for employment. Other schools give you unlimited space for activities/employment (others just use AMCAS). You may be able to combine a few if you need more than 15, but you should be good with 15.

You want to be very brief but also make an impact in those descriptions (IMO).

Clubs are a waste, so you can keep those off. Even leadership in clubs I feel is not too important if you have other things going on.

Anyways, quality >>>>>> quantity. Unless you're non-trad odds are you don't have 15 ECs that are all super-important. Just group similar things in same boxes, and cut out the less important stuff.

By the way, if you plan on submitting next year, I believe all your data will be lost. Don't bother filling it in.

The next cycle will open May 1st(ish) of next year. Take a look at the AMCAS format for now, and work in a word doc or something until you're able to fill out the AMCAS app for your cycle. It would be a huge pain in the rear end if you filled the whole thing out, didn't save it electronically, and had to do it again because it deleted everything.

Wow, thats good to know haha. Thanks guys! I might be wrong but i believe there was a question asking me if I had ever filled out the AMCAS before on the application. Would i have to say yes since i partially filled it out?

Your username and password will be the same. Your name will be remembered. All else will need to be re-entered.

If you didn't submit the AMCAS form (and pay money) and get verified, then you did not complete it. So you don't have to answer yes to that question.
