Does anyone know when or how schools rule you out? I sent in my primary application with all my MCAT scores. Do schools rule you out by not giving you secondaries or do they rule you out by not giving you an interview? What does secondary applications actually mean? thanks

Some schools will screen you out by not giving you a secondary, many more will screen you out by not inviting you to interview. For some schools (non-screening schools), secondary applications mean literally nothing. They offer them to every applicant so that they can collect the application fee, even if they have no intention of seriously considering you. For other schools (screening schools), secondary applications mean you passed a preliminary screen. Usually this means your GPA and MCAT are above some bare minimum and you automatically receive a secondary invite, but some schools claim that this screen is based on more than numbers.

You can usually find out if the schools you applied to are screening or non-screening by reading their threads here: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/forumdisplay.php?f=826
