Sorry to post so much, but this site is really great.

Please let me know what you guys think about these Phy and Org Chem schedule that I have planned out. I like the idea of taking Org. Chem during the regular semester, but I don't like that I have the summer break in between the two Org Chems.

Spring '10 - Org I

Summer '10 - Phy I & II

Fall '10 - Org II

I wouldn't advise taking both organic I and II over the summer. Those are both courses that really require time to let the principles soak in.. The summer won't hurt you.

Why not take it during the semester? I never understood why people absolutely 100% MUST take it during the summer.

If you aren't going to be able to retain ochem 1 for three months until ochem 2, then you certainly aren't going to retain them both all the way until the MCAT.

If you're worried, grab some Organic Chemistry for Dummies books and review all summer. Then you'll probably be more prepared than any of the other students come ochem 2.

Ok, thanks for all your suggestions... will take Organic Chem during the semester and Phy I and II over the summer.

I don't really think you're solving the problem here...

Organic Chemistry and Physics are, commonly, the two most difficult pre-reqs for pre-meds. Most people attempting to do even one of those semesters over the summer get overwhelmed. Unless you just GET high-level math and have an insane memory, you aren't doing yourself any favors.

What's the rush, exactly?

If you HAVE to get those courses done within that time-frame, then your plan should be to take Org I and Phsx I during Spring, relax during your summer, and then take Org II and Phsx II during the Fall. This is going to spread these classes out long enough for you to at least memorize the information (although it still isn't going to be easy).

Be greatful you have a summer to use. Go volunteering. Do a research opportunity. There are far better things to be doing over your summer that can get you closer to medical school than classes you can take over the regular school year.

ummm.. i was expert at physics when i took.. i do not retain 70% of the material now that I think of it.. u should do fine either way.. u'll have to study for the mcat seperately anyways..

Of course, it's a LOT easier to study for the MCAT if you had no difficulty in the original class. Then it's called "reviewing."
