I can't get myself motivated enough to study for the mcat. How do you guys get themselves motivated? I know the mcat is soon approaching, but it just hasn't hit me yet.

As a doctor told me, if you can't get motivated to study for the MCAT on your own, you might not be ready for med school.

I now agree with this line of rasoning, though I hate people who give that line, so I'll just say that you need to isolate yourself in the library. Just set aside several hours by yourself in the stacks. Bring food and coffee to stay awake. Once you get into a routine, you'll just be used to studying, and it won't seem so tedious.

umm...how bout if you don't study you won't get into med school?

j/k

Try to make the material interesting...just think about how it relates to medicine or to 'real life'.

If you make studying a pleasant experience, you will look forward to studying.

Yea i hate it when people use that line, "just because you don't like xxxxxx, maybe u shouldn't be a doctor..."

Try to do active activity (do problem or do MCAT sample test) instead of passive activity (read textbook). I found that I learn more from my mistake than reading textbook.

Don't worry. When you're ready - you'll be motivated. An unmotivated test taker will get predictable results compared to the motivated test taker. Better to be motivated and get better results to present to the adcoms then to either be passed over or have to explain your test scores.

I think, if I don't do well on this, my whole future goes down the toilet (not that I advocate this way of thinking 😀 ).
