How do waitlist acceptances work when you already have an acceptance?

I have been doing a little bit of research regarding how waitlist movement works and I saw a timeline that shows that AACOMAS reports back to schools on May 15th "the names and candidates for its entering class who hold an acceptance(s) at additional institutions." How does this work for waitlists? I am currently accepted at a school and waitlisted at another but the one I am WL'ed at is my preferred due to its proximity to home. My question is, can i get in off a waitlist at this school should i already have paid multiple deposits at the school i was already accepted at? Thanks
