I signed up for a 3 credit class but withdrew from it right after the semester began. My transcript lists that I attempted those credits (even though I immediately dropped the class). Are those credits factored in as the equivalent of 0 points when calculating GPA?

You can't be serious...of course it does not affect your GPA.

You need to contact your registrar. If you dropped the class but you receive an "F" as if you didn't do any work, there is a problem.

There are 2 possibilities:
AMCAS counts it as a W and it doesn't affect your GPA (sounds like this is the proper scenario)
AMCAS counts it as a WF and it is equivalent to an F (only if your transcripts do it that way)

Assuming the first scenario, one W won't affect your admission in any way. Worst-case scenario is that you'll be asked about it in an interview.
