how do ya'll pay for your interviews?

depends if you have to fly/stay in a hotel/rent a car... and where too/from... (WVSOM for example is two hours from the closest decent sized airport)

WVSOM - (from Boston) - easily $800
UNECOM - (drove) - at the most $50

Again, this doesn't count Secondary application costs, primary applications costs, seat deposit(s)...

I know that from living in Connecticut and flying out to Kansas City next month i've already spent $310 for the flight and $166 for the hotel. It all adds up really fast! The admissions committee makes sure to warn that it's roughly 30 minutes from the airport to the hotel so taxi fair has to be tacked on too.

It is definately an expensive experience!!

I'm actually going to drive from Colorado to DMU in September. The cheapest airfare is like $450, and since I'm not in school right now (I graduated in May), I have the time to drive. Might have company, too - my mother-in-law has offered to come with for the company. Since I really do love my mother-in-law, I may take her up on it. She'll probably pay for half the gas and take me to dinner, too 😀.

when it comes time for me to interview the best case scenario results in me selling a kidney on the black market (this is if I get alot of interviews 🙂)

We need to do a typing-cross. LOL.

I got a new Credit Card with 0% until next October, and a $3000 limit, just for the occasion.

I work. I get paid. I forward that money on to airlines, hotels, and schools. 🙁

If you don't mind sleeping on some student's sofa, you can ask the admissions department at the school to put you in touch with a host student. A few of the student hosts were even willing to pick me up at the airport and feed me. I think I saved around $100 on each interview when I did this. It doesn't change the cost of airfare, but it sure helps make interviewing a bit cheaper. And it gave me a good chance to hear about the school from another student without getting the standard propaganda like "Our school is the best of the best of the best in......"

I gave plasma for a while to pay off my interview balance.

Good luck with your interviews.
