For those who've already figured this out.... There are a couple of books I want to get but internship starts a month from now. I want to get 'em but I don't want to spend my own money when I've got $800 sitting at the residency office....

How do you get books using your book budget? Do you buy, bring receipt and get reimbursed? Do you order through the department?

We buy them and are reimbursed. Don't know about other programs...

buy them now, and you shall get reimbursed. you will always have to pay out of pocket first, and wait weeks-months to get reimbursed.

We don't have a book budget. 🙁 We do get one free book a year (chosen by the program).

We get $350 a year (which doesn't go far when large texts may be $200 and Drug reps aren't as free with the er...freebies).

We can be reimbursed but I generally just pick the book out at the med school bookstore or order it in and have it put aside until our program coordinator goes in to pay for it. That way don't have to wait for reimbursement (although when I have had to do that - say for trips - our department is pretty quick to cut me a check).
