Hi Guys,
I just got accepted into my number one choice of school, but I have another interview scheduled.
How do I go about canceling/declining that interview? Like how do I sound polite while doing it?

I was also accepted into another school. How do I gracefully decline their acceptance ?

Thanks in advanced!

I emailed the person who I had scheduled my interview with, told him that I had been accepted and that I was planning on attending that school, and wished them and their future students good luck. As for declining an acceptance, I still haven't done that yet and need help doing that too haha.

I think emails are the more professional/formal way to do it so you're not just calling some random person in the admissions office. It'd probably be wise to thank them and their staff for the opportunity, and also briefly explain the reason why you're canceling. As far as what they'll respond with, it's usually just a generic message that they send out all the time, so don't feel like you did something wrong if they're not super friendly or anything after you cancel

"Thank you for your consideration and for extending this opportunity, but after much thought, I have made a decision to forgo the offer for an interview."

"As grateful as I am for you to extend an offer, I can't accept it. After careful thoughts, I decided to go to another school."
They don't care tbh. They would prefer that you decline their offer than you holding your seat there and at other optometry schools while you continue to shop at all of them. They will soon learn where you are going.
