How do you celebrate APhM?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
our school trys to make us buy t-shirts. I have yet to purchase. They can be found about 3 weeks later at the thrift stores around town

i dunno, people wore these "know your medicines, know your pharmacist" pins...i just ate free food that invariably came around. win.

I was going to post something along these lines. Maybe I'll get a nice button for my backpack. Or use puffy paint on my own t-shirt at home. I am a starving student, you know.

I forgot october was Pharmacist month. Like confetti, I just remember getting free food and stuff.

So, what organization declared oct pharmacy month??

I think it must be APhA that started it. At least they seem to spend the most time promoting it.

Going to a diabetes walk with APHA, planning to rock that biochem exam and finishing a group project by myself for my buddies since they have work ^^.

I plan on using a few vacation days, attending multiple WVU football games, and trying to convince people at 3AM that its a good idea to let me give them a flu shot across the barrier of my securi-cage. I gave 3 flu shots in the middle of the night Friday going into Saturday. I think one of them was drunk. Whatever. Immunized, son. Add one to the scoreboard.

I plan on studying, working, writing, studying, working, catching up on life! I wish I had the time and energy to do all of the activities like the health fairs, diabetes walk, etc. but I just don't have it.

Which reminds me, LIU and APHA wants it's pharmacy students to go to channel 7 news early in the morning to broadcast the profession for APhM on thursday.

Im really deciding if I should go... it's a once in a year thing every October

" PHARMACY MEDIA OUTREACH ON CHANNEL 7 GOOD MORNING AMERICA"

I'm thinking about going since I don't have rotations this month, but I really do not want to dress up for this.

I have a exam the day after lol, Pharmacy school made me into a coffee person. You should def dress up and represent your school and profession. My school didnt even give me a white coat yet, but they want me to wear one for the show.

Im not sure about waking up at 5:30 in the morning, just so I can get there at 6:30. I live in manhattan, so it's a 20 min subway ride, but Im still going to be tired zzzz.

Good responses so far. I meant more along the lines of, "What does your pharmacy do to promote APhM?" It is interesting to read what everyone plans to do for the month of October, but that was not really what I was going for originally.

Reassess how much money I need to live comfortably with passive income so I can GTFO of pharmacy. I tell my partner every day that I don't mind the bad days (which are becoming more common now that our daily script average is approaching 700) because they push me to work harder so that I can finally be free.

Hahahahaaa

As we all know, October is the American Pharmacy Month so lets celebrate and increase awareness of our profession.

This is my first!! I am so excited!

Happy American Pharmacists Month!

tweet a status thanking our pharmacists and end it with "#AmericanPharmacistsMonth" !!!

So I was drafted to be the APhM chair for ASP at my campus, due to a certain APhM related activity that I did. Cool beans. 😀

I kinda feel like a sellout though. :meanie:

I even got a congratulatory email from the dean about that aforementioned activity. Neat.

Nice! 👍

How does the # thing work? Complete twitter n00b, obviously.

Did everyone read the front page article? I thought it was pretty good.
Your name is Chivas? Like the scotch?

Well, it could certainly be your pen name I suppose.

Wait, you think I wrote that article? I mean I guess we both have owle in our name and we do both go to UF and I do have that SDN author badge, but what makes you think I am as funny, charming, smart, articulate, and awesome as this Chivas guy? I wish! Woman want to date him and men want to be him.

I have it on good authority that Chivas was indeed named after the scotch, not the Spanish word chivas. Supposedly his parents had an agreement: if male his father would name him, if female his mother would. I guess we know how that worked out. Apparently his mother didn't like it and there was a big fight about it. His dad actually wanted his middle name to be "Regal" but his mom put her foot down and refused to allow it. While we are on the subject, how awesome is this?! (if your name is Chivas I mean).

Chivas Owle is... the most interesting man in the world.

Didn't know October was APhM until the dean mentioned it in his address during my interview last Friday. So I guess... nothing? Gotta get a script filled, so maybe I'll say "Happy Pharmacists' Month" when I go? Maybe I'll be nice for someone's quota & get my flu shot at a pharmacy this year?

We have replaced our fakebook image with the above and put some interesting fact as our status such as:
"Did you know that many pharmacists hold Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degrees, like a physician holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or a professor holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)?"

Inferiority complex much?

I was walking towards the Medical Center that I work at today and I saw this huge banner above 1 of the main entrances celebrating National Physical Therapist Month. I though to myself that I have a gut feeling that Oct is Pharm month too, but not sure cuz I could honestly care less.

Apparently after reading this thread, Oct is pharm month. It was funny that they had a huge banner for PT's but nothing for us. Oh well.
