This isnt a big deal, I am just kind of curious....

My father was talking to someone very familiar with the application process and was giving him the low down on me, and seeing if its possible to be accepted this cycle and what schools would be good matches...well..

My dad keeps telling people I have a 21, and its irking me, and the guy said "well a 21 is very competitive" and can compensate for my 3.2 GPA.... well I keep trying to tell my dad i DON'T have a 21, I have a 21/20/21, which he says a 21... but I think if i had to sum it up I would use my AA, and say 20 (so essentially exclude the PAT)...

My question is if asked to sum up your DAT score what do u say? AA? Do you feel like my father telling everyone I have a 21 is misleading?

If i'm not mistaken the order you post them is AA/TS/PAT so it should be written 20/21/21.

Anyways, if your dad wanted to get an honest opinion from an adcom or the likes, he should be honest about your scores. AA 20, however, is still a competitive score.

generally when people say there score its the academic average and not the other two. But i don't think you have anything to worry about because both of your scores are competitive 🙂

Dont' worry about it. Doesn't matter if other people think you have a 21 or 20.
Feel lucky anyway. My mom doesn't get the idea of these standardized tests.... she still thinks there such a thing as "passing" the DAT. I think she might go around telling people I "passed" it when I'm done .. assuming i get a good score. HA:laugh:

one thing i learned

dont freaking tell ur parents anything

and if u ever have to, always make it seem like its impossible for you to get in

mom keeps asking what the chance in % will be for me to enter dental school (like every 2nd day) -__- hell am i supposed to know

So i gave her an extremely low number at 10% LOL
mom walks away sighing
Anyone else have this kind of problem with Asian parents?

I think there's no such a percentage , and some people get it woth low scores but with other strong parts of the appl.🙂

heh...

well my dad is not proud of the school i'm attending now for undergrad.... he compensates it with the whole "he's going to dental school" when he talks to other people...

hrm... I'll think otherwise next time when I get a scholarship to college and try to save them money... and choose the more expensive, private school.. 😛

private schools a lot more generous with marks yes...

i cant believe some US schools have their undergrads averaging 3.65 out of possible 4.00

Our school average GPA is fixed to 2.3 (C) by bell-curves...oh well, guess 50000 students in a university must lead to weeding out.

That's funny. I chose to not save them money and went to the private school. They compensate me not wanting to be a doctor with ... she goes here for undergrad. HAH!

Lesson: lose-lose situation with parents
