How do you explain academic problems?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
in an honest way.
only share the info that you have to share. be positive and tell them what you have learned from it and how you won't let that happen to you in D-school.

You mean back it up with the recent progress that I am making to show that I've turned it around.

Also since going into a dentistry is taken very seriously(especially since it pertains to health) I would be at the mercy of admin people not believing me even with my progress.

What do you mean only the info that I have to share? The info revealed in the original transcript?

Is your transcript the only information you have? Is it an accurate representation of who you are as a complete human being--a list of numbers? For the sake of your dental aspirations, I hope not.

Just be honest with them, and I think they will understand.

Oohhh noo......the Bills!...they are spreading!!

We must put an end to this now before it gets out of hand!!!

Blank,

when you say explaining, are you refering to explaning in an interview or in your personal statement?

In both cases:

1. always tell them the truth.
2. follow negative thigs with positive things (i.e: progress in later semester)
3. do your grades provide an accurate representation of you? tell them if its not the case and tell them why.
4. the interviw (or PS) is your chance to talk, so direct it in the way you think is in your best interest.

"What do you mean only the info that I have to share? The info revealed in the original transcript?"

yes and no! when you are answering a question only answer that question focusing on positive things about you. if you must say something negative about yourself, be very careful. avoid saying extra things unless you want to direc the interview to a different topic which will only help you and you want them to know.
