How do you fail CS?

All jokes aside, I would like to know how can medical student fail the CS. I must admit it, in late-night flashbacks of the test (yes PTSD), I can possibly recall forgetting some things on physical exam or at least putting it in my note. Is that enough to fail you? I checked the website and found that was one component of a sub component 🙄 of the exam. I felt I had a strong handle on the cases and the tests to order and confident about every other aspect test. Honestly, I would be shocked if I failed but this a new test and I have no idea how much error is allowed. Yes, I guess I am the one now looking for reassurance.
BTW I used First for CS and found it very helpful. It can just be easy to forget the myriad of PE manuevers taught to us.

I'm guessing, short of incomplete history/physicals, that poor communication skills would doom you.

I was told, again, this is just hear say, but I was told on the osteopathic side of things that since the comlex-cs is graded on a bell shaped curve, taht there will be a percentage that fails. It just works out that way.

I went through the Step 2 CS and I felt 50% of the cases I totally finished, 25% I felt I rushed or missed something on the exam/history, and 25% I felt (or in one case absolutely knew) I forgot something in the write up; I got my results back a few weeks ago, though, and pass on all portions! I didn't actually bother studying anything since I was in the middle of a child psych rotation in Pittsburgh, and between the drive and the interview trail I was totally burned out. I figure as long as you have average communications skills and are at least a mediocre student (like me!!) you should pass quite easily.

The USMLE info stuff says that 2-5% will fail. I haven't gotten my scores back (took it October), but I thought it was a lousy excuse for a $1000 test.

I think that as long as you can communicate decently (and have actually been to medical school), you should be fine.

I appreciate your post. The night after the exam, I felt very confident about all of them except I know I forgot 2-3 PE maneuvers (at least). But because the wait is so long, my memory of this confidence has faded and doubt has crept in.
