just got interview from a top program, but it's the last day of the interview season, does this mean they are least interested in you......? wondering whether I should go or just cancel it, it's too far away & waste my money...any thoughts? thanks!

If we told you that it did, in fact, mean that they were less interested in you, would you not accept the interview?

I don't have any special insight into how offers are made, but it's hard to imagine you'd be in their top tier if they're just getting around to making the offer now. In any case, they're obviously interested enough, and if you want to go to the program, I'd take the offer and show them your best. Good luck.

hard to predict what it means-- it might mean that you just made the cut in terms of the grades/credentials screen now that all the applications are in, it might mean they just got around to looking at your application-- none of us know. What we do know is that they think it's worth interviewing you. Which means that you need to think of yourself as being on the same playing field as the other folks who got interviews and go wow them so that they will rank you high. If it's a program that you would really love to be at, then the term "waste my money" is silly. They invited you. If you're interested, go. No use trying to read minds here. You don't want to have any regrets. Good luck.

maybe it gives you a great chance to crack the list if you blow them away? if you need the interview go, if not, I think its terribly unlikely that a top program wouldnt have a pretty solid rank list, making it very hard to get into the top 40. unless you have a connection there, that is. I would probably not go.
