How do you handle secondaries WITH school work/job?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I just worked on them at night when I got home or on lunch breaks at work. It sucked and it took about 2 weeks to get through them all.

Man up.

What do you want? Sympathy?

👍 lol.

i work 40+ hrs a week and applied to 20+ schools. what was the result after i was verified? 20+ secondaries. i finished in little over a week by pretty much writing them up from 6 pm - 2 am. you can do it

I would say the trick is to realize that once you get going copy/paste is your friend. After the first ten I think I rarely wrote a completely original essay.

Ideally, you would pre-write them before the process gets overwhelming.

At the very least, write a diversity paragraph since most schools ask how you would contribute to the diversity there.

Additionally, do some research on each school and organize your thoughts, in case you need to write about why you wish to attend a particular school.

Lastly, organize each school by the date in which you received the secondary. On your calendar, note down the 2-week timeline (since it's advisable that you submit secondaries 2 weeks after receiving them).

Panic mode: work on the secondaries for the schools that 1) you know you have a good chance at, 2) are safety schools, 3) you have a strong preference for. Save the other schools later.

Please someone.. give me some advice. I am dying here.

If it's a fairly unique prompt (i.e., one I haven't answered in another secondary), I just start blabbering my thoughts out on Word. Then I delete the concepts that aren't relevant, and expand upon the ones that are. Lastly I trim the thing down to meet the character requirements.

Once I start physically writing (instead of just abstractedly thinking about what I should write), I get more done. I still spend a fair amount of time staring off into the distance, though ...

Ever heard of a time turner? It's what Hermoine used in Harry Potter. Check on Ebay to see if you can get one on the cheap.

That's what I did 🙂

That said, it really is tough. I work many more than 40 hours a week (this is an expensive process!!) and it has been very challenging to get all my essays written - especially because I have done quite a bit of tailoring for each essay for each school. I hope it pays off 😳
