Hi everyone

I hope all is well. As senior resident soon to be running an inpatient ward team I wanted to know if anyone has any patient tracking sheets/advice as to how to keep track of the patients in terms of active issues, labs, etc. I thought I had it figured out during intern year, but apparently not and I am now finding myself facing keeping track of double the patients as a senior resident and am worried........ please help .thanks.

I am an R2 and just finished my first MICU last month with two interns (no wards yet.. everything in spring 🙁). Initially, I was trying to figure out whether to use flowsheets or some other method. I actually tried for a few days something akin to copying all the Assessment/Plan portions of my interns' notes onto an MS Word document. That way, I could cover all the issues for all the patients. I updated this sheet every AM and PM and printed a new copy for the AM rounds. After a few days I knew everything about all the patients so I just ended up using the standard rounding patient list and putting pertinent lab/imaging and procedure results. It'll come to you within a few days once you familiarize yourself with the patients .. you'll be able to recall everything about the patient and what needs to be done next. Hope this helps!
