For those of us who have been fortunate enough to be accepted to more than one school, how do you know which medical school is the one for you? What factors were the most important for you (rank, location, proximity to family, p/f, pbl, etc)? Or, was it an emotional feeling, like, "it just felt right?"

For me, I am still confused....

i think there's a lot that goes into it. like you mentioned, part of it is just that it feels right.

one of the main considerations for me was finding a school that had a teaching philosophy that meshed with my own goals for my career. additionally, i wanted at least some level of prestige associated with my school's name and its hospitals, although this wasn't a huge consideration. i think there's lots of logical considerations that i probably put myself through, but the final decision came down to where i just felt i most belonged. additionally, of the three schools i interviewed at, my primary care physician and two other doctors all agreed that i would be happiest at the school i chose, and that it was probably the best school for someone who wants to practice medicine and see patients as opposed to pursuing research/academic medicine

Dude, are you having second thoughts about NW vs. Temple? Unless there's a huge geographical conflict for you (and I would understand if location is really important to you because it sure as hell is for me), then go to Northwestern. Otherwise, set up an appointment with a shrink and have your head examined. Congratulations on your success.

Top 10 school + happy students + student-centered school + "it feels right" = an easy choice for me.

Good luck with your choice!

Location is a factor for me...I also have a boyfriend applying to law school right now and he finds out where he is going around April. But other than that, Northwestern was my first choice since my interview (it was my second) and it just felt right....but its really far from my family. I heard that familial support is very important while in med school so I am trying to reconcile with this as well. But if it were clear cut, NW would be a clear choice but there are more factors to consider--hence, my interest in how others reconciled their personal factors when making this very important decision. thanks for the congrats. I am verrrrrrryyyy excited nevertheless.

For me, it was just a feeling I got on the interview day. I was at the school and everything about it made me know it was a good fit and I would come out a great doctor.

Now I just have to get in off the waitlist. >_<
