This is a question from one of my friends.

Is there some national database that shows which high school a person graduated from or do you put the high school on your diploma? Here is the dilemma:

Friend went to High School A for 3.5 years.
Got into trouble and got transferred to an evening school. Only needed English to graduate.
Only did English at evening school.
Friend's mom got a call from school A to come in and pick up his diploma after School A's graduation.
Still graduated but High School diploma says School A and not evening school.
(Diploma states that Friend has completed all courses necessary at "School A" to graduate blah blah blah etc).

What high school is the official school this person graduated from? If in 3 years this person decides to apply to medical school, which high school to put? Will this even be a problem? Will this even show up on records since it was only between high school admins and not cops etc although a private investigator was involved?

Thanks.

It's whatever school the diploma is from so looks like your friend lucked out

Once you get to college, you will see no one gives a **** about what high school you went to. Medical schools care even less.

And once you get into medical school I doubt they care about what college you are from.

So no.... I doubt you have to put that on your app

For official reasons only like what high school to put on FAFSA, Scholorship applications etc? It seems like evening school could disqualify for those stuff since it requires graduation from a full time 4 year high school as a requirement.

Your friend graduated from high school A. Credits can be transferred in HS just like in college, except in this case they were transferred in a reverse way - which technically can be done in college, just not as often.

The college equivalent (minus the getting in trouble part) would be taking 4 yours of classes at X University, but not finishing one core requirement, like english. The student then takes it at a Community College that summer and gets his diploma from X University, not the Community College.

Is right. You graduated from High School A not the evening school unless the evening school itself gave you a diploma

How is this relevant to med school? Once you are in college, HS doesn't matter at all!

How is this not obvious guys? AMCAS asks where you graduated HS from and so do a lot of secondaries.

Stupid question moment: What's an evening school....?

A school where you take your classes in the evening 🙄

Its for like teen moms and stuff that need to work or people that have unique situations like that.

Ohhh, I see. But is not like that will be a deciding factor in being admitted... Or at least that's what I thought 🙂

Medical school asks for High School, FAFSA and financial aid for med schools etc. High School in a bad neighborhood is considered for disadvantaged statuses etc.

Last question:

Is this worth bringing up when my friend applies to medical school? Since this was in high school and he got into college with this not being on his transcript or anything, would it be safe not to mention it on secondaries that say "Has your education ever been interrupted or have you ever been a recipient of any suspention, expulsion or IA in secondary school , college or otherwise?"

If a secondary asks specifically for actions taken during secondary school, then yes, he has to explain it. I don't know of any that do, though.
