How do you study for histology

How do you study for histology? do you just look at the slide repeatedly? do you draw?

Histo (and pathology) are all about pattern recognition. Looking at the series of slides over and over again is really helpful.

If your slides are on the computer, you can put together huge powerpoint presentations (with the names left off, obviously) and quiz yourself with them. There are online histo quizzes somewhere - those were helpful too.

Look at lots of slides....in the lab or using on-line atlas. Learning histo will help you with path as well.

Make a list of some hints, clues to review before exams (and this should help for the final too).

Wheater's functional histology (for histology) and Wheater's histopathology (pathology) are good atlases to use.

Definately look at the slides over and over again. I found that using note cards and drawing what the slide looked like to me was really helpful as well.

our histo class was cd based, so look at the pics over and over. Really brought up my phys grade (integrated into the course).

I used a web based microscope, tutorialish program. This post is not very helpful but I just want to iterate that I loved histo. Drawing no way. See if you can find ways to quiz yourself. My program had it built in fortunately and I learned it very well that way.

Hi:

My name is Sarah, and I am the webmaster for Histology-World!. Perhaps my website will help you learn histology.

There is a testbank, with lots of practice questions and detailed explanations.

My site has one of the largest histology photomicrograph collections on the internet:

I would also recommend making flashcards to learn the vocabulary. It takes a lot time and patience to master histology.Good luck!

Sarah
