Oh my hell. Please tell me you are not a 4th year medical student who is about to become a physician in 8 months.

This sounds like a question my 9 year old daughter would ask me if she didn't want to go to her friends house.

I hope no one gives an answer to your question so you can figure it out on your own. You can do it.

Very simple. You call them and tell them thank you, but you will not be interviewing with them. Viola...

Lots of people decline interviews. It's inherent in the system. The programs won't hold it against you especially if you decline early so they can fill the spot with someone else. They will be annoyed if you decline too late, say only 1-2 weeks before you are to go. They will blacklist you if you don't show (why do you think the CORD page has a password section). Look at it from thier point of view. They'd rather use their interview spots for someone who might actually go there.

My standard line was "I'm sorry but my travel schedule makes it impossible for me to interview with you on such-and-such a date. Thank you for your offer and goold luck in the match blah blah blah. Seemed to work well."

The sick thing is I went on 12 interviews and matched at the place I interviewed first. Think of all the money I could have saved!

Ah, I long for the day when I'll be turning down interviews due to my busy schedule. 🙂

Why feel bad turning down interviews??? Surely, the programs think nothing about it when they reject applicants. They are cutting necks all the time and think nothing of it. What works one way, can just as easily work another. Seriously, I wouldn't feel bad in the least. You think the PD's are crying everytime they reject people? I seriously doubt it.

Just send the program in question a photo of you in a compromising position with a goat, and on on the back scribble "I can't wait to meet your kids." The problem will fix itself in no time.

What if that photo got sent around to all the PD's 😱
