I know the main AADSAS app asks if you have any family members that went to dental school. However, this section is quite a small portion of the app and may be overlooked. My questions are:

1) Does every school value a legacy?

2) If not, is it safe to say only the schools that VALUE legacies would pay attention to this question, and therefore discover this information and take the appropriate steps?

Appropriate steps? Like bypass this silly formality of an application process so you can flash credentials and pass go?

i would think some value it more than others but there is no sure fire way to find out other than asking each school and hoping for a candid answer

Not what I meant at all haha. I actually have no idea what a legacy does for you, I merely was trying to find out how a school identifies you as one.

Secondary applications will ask if you have a family member who went to their dschool. IMO it won't make or break you but it is definitely considered.

Lets assume that those schools that value it, will look at the small portion. The schools that dont care as much, will overlook it.

I've filled out a ton of secondaries and the only school that asked was USC, hence my question haha. I guess it's what I originally assumed, which the above poster mentioned as well

The only schools i have ever heard of valuing legacies are: UOP, USC, and Temple.

And that is just hearsay, for the vast majority of schools... nobody will care.

My guess is if your parent/ grandparent has sent the school a check recently, they will be more likely to consider your family legacy.
