How does AMCAS display GPA

How does AMCAS display your GPAs? I used an AMCAS GPA calculator and it shows "cumulative", "BCPM" and "all other"- which ones will schools see?

It has those three columns and then it seperates into freshman, sophomore, junior, senior and cumulative

So schools see bcpm and all other or bcpm and cumulative?

They see BCPM, All other, and cumulative (combined BCPM/all other). These are further separated by each grade

So when looking at possible schools, do you choose schools based on cumulative and science or all other and science?

(Sorry for all the questions)!

MSAR will list the averages for cGPA and sGPA. I would probably use cGPA unless there is some extreme discrepancy between the two

So if my AO is like 3.9, my cumulative is about 3.4 & science is 3.2, I would just look at schools near my cgpa ( I know that it's low)?

I made a school list but I haven't taken the MCAT (next May)-
FAU
FIU
USF
Netter
Georgetown
Rosalind Franklin
NYMC
Wake Forest
EVMS
Howard
Mehaery
Morehouse

I would look for schools that your cGPA is above the 10th percentile .

It's hard to give you a school list without an MCAT score, but I recommend posting in the What are my chances forum and seeking advice there

Based on your list of schools, it looks like we live close by! Why don't you have FSU, UCF, UF, or Mercer on your list?

UCF and UF- Don't think I'd be competitive.

FSU- Just not interested and they start in the summer (meaning, if I were accepted, I'd have very little time between undergrad and med school).

Depending on your MCAT score, you might be competitive at UF and UCF. Personally, I would apply to as many schools as I could afford. Best of luck!

Are you URM? Have you checked the specific missions of Howard, Meherry and Morehouse? Your cGPA and sGPA are below average for MD schools. Take a good, long look at DO schools.

Yes, I'm URM and I have checked the missions of the HBCUs.

Seems like you're from Florida, you should apply to all the Florida schools bar none - if your MCAT is anywhere near decent you will have a chance for them. If you could choose between not getting into med school this year and starting school in the summer, I think that is a no brainer - FSU should be on your list. Being a URM helps too. Good luck.
