Hi all,

So if we have FAP and begin to add schools beyond 15, how does the secondary app fees work?

In other words, do we get to choose which schools we want for the secondaries fees to be waived? How does this work. Is it whichever 15 schools you added first on AMCAS are the ones the fees will be waived for?

Or is it whichever 15 schools send me the secondaries first are those in which the fee waivers are waived? Or the first 15 I submit?

Anyone, please help, I'm confused by this process.

I was under the impression that if the school offers a fee waiver (which can be found out using MSAR) and you were approved for FAP then you will not have to pay the secondary fee, regardless of the number of schools you've applied to.

I could be wrong so take this with a grain of salt but I recall hearing this before.

Last year, it was the PRIMARY fees for up to 14 schools that were waived by AMCAS. Any additional school was $35 from what I can recall.

The secondary fees are solely up to the discretion of the school to which you're applying. However, most, if not all, schools will waive your secondary fee (which is HUGE!).

I have FAP too and I called AAMC and they said that the 15 school waiver is only for primary app. Secondary apps depend on teh schools, but almost all schools will see that you ahve FAP and will waive your application fee.

Ok, thanks guys. I thought I would have to begin to pay for secondaries after 15 schools. I feel good now that I've heard this!!
