I had heard that the employment climate was very touchy for physicians in Florida due to poor reimbursements and high malpractice suits. Is this true?

I'm graduating and getting the hell out of here. Many of the doctors I did rotations with complained about the state of medicine in Florida, and NONE of them had malpractice insurance because it was too expensive!!!

From what I know, it SUCKS. 😱

Now the good side to this is that things cannot get much worse. Everything goes in cycles. The more doctors leave, the more will be in demand in the near future. As far as malpractice, this will be fixed in the next 5-10 years, depends on what specialty u practice as well. Florida just passed tort reform at 250 or 500 thousand, might help a bit. Anyhow, hope things get better. :scared:

If you work in academia at any of the State of Florida campuses, you have immunity from the 3 strikes rule. So malpractice isn't so much of an issue.

Can anyone verify this statement??

Thanks
