Hi, if someone has their primary application ready to submit, but won't get their MCAT back until late July, and they are going to send in their primary very soon, should they just apply to one throwaway school? Would applying to the entire school list at the end of July instead of now hurt with regards to timing?
Also, is it possible to get a gauge of school list without a score? I think I have a decent ballpark idea of a score, high 500s, low 510s maybe.
And I don't think my school list would drastically change unless I score much higher than I expected, or if I completely bomb. Either way I anticipate it'll be something like 40ish percent DO schools, 40ish percent "low tier" MD 15 percent mid tier MD, and 5 percent reaches.
If my score is a couple points higher than I think, I'd just slightly adjust my list to make it slightly more MD heavy than DO, and add a couple more "higher" ranked schools. I won't drastically alter the list because my GPA is 3.64 anyways (near 4.0 post bacc), so it's not like I'd move heavily to top 30s regardless. I just want the best chance of getting into A school, any school, that is.
Hence, is it a good idea to get a semblance of a list ready now? I'm a NY resident by the way, ORM. I'd appreciate it if anyone can help with making a school list. I realize I should have my score before making a list, but I'm just trying to get ahead of things as best as I can.
