Hey Guys!
I just wanted to get suggestions on how to use all my Kaplan resources when studying for the MCATs. For example: when to use the subject tests, sectional tests, tropical tests, Q banks, Review Notes.. Fulllengths ?

Did you guys had a plan that exhausted all the resources within few months and improving drastically?

Any suggestions would do?!

Read their Biology book. Take the rest outside and use them as kindling for a fire. Very efficient.

Keep FLs 1-6 and 9.....let the rest burn at will.....😀
excellent job guys. keep up the good work, i'm sure these valuable insights are of tremendous value to the OP and others.

OP, i'll codify my thoughts on the kaplan materials at some point, but the general gist is this - THE TOPICALS ARE YOUR MOST VALUABLE KAPLAN RESOURCE. ok? now, what i personally suggest is the following - ideally, you can read all of the review books before you start the class/online components. if that's not possible, it's no biggie, but as you complete each section, first read, then do the topicals. ideally you can squeeze in a subject test between the reading and the topicals to help solidify your content review, but if you don't get to them, it's not a huge deal. the full-lengths should be taken at your pace. some (like myself) like a good one-a-week kind of pace, others save it for later. i see merits to both approach. if not a full-length a week, the sectionals are a good way to qualitatively judge your progress as well. ditch the Q bank, it's worthless.

Thank you!!! So its bascially useless doing the practice before reading/ glazing thro the review books?! hmmmm
ok thanks bleargh!!
If I remember correctly ur a MCAT beast hahah Congrats again!

Thanks for the help. My books shipped today so I haven't had a chance to look at them yet, I planned on skimming through them and doing some problems before my first practice exam, but we'll see.....

i would think it's best to review first.

don't put it off. if you find time later, you can even review it twice.

"use all the Kaplan resources efficiently"

Anyone who has taken Kaplan and used other materials will tell you that this is an oxymoron. Kaplan has a boatload of materials that are of varying usefulness. Don't fall into the sunk cost trap. Just because you paid for Kaplan don't assume you have to use all their materials. Your prep time is more valuable than their materials. Look them over and do a little research and find out which Kaplan materials are most useful (I personally would do the HW and attend some classes and use the FL practices, that's it.) Toss the rest and supplement with other better materials like TBR PS & Ochem, EK Bio & VR, etc. And I would use EK red formulas to make my own flashcards rather than the Kaplan flashcards, they have more than are necessary.

I am going to supplement with 3 TBR tests and use the TBR Physics and Gen Chem. Good idea, right?

mhmm Why does learning COST SOO MUCH MONEY! lol
ok! thanks guys..
I having been reading the review books as well as doing the practice problems in the end of the chapters..
For physics, I am going to use Nova and for chemistry i have to deal with kaplan lol
For verbal-- I am using EK old version. Hopefully one day I will be in ecstasy to see that all this studying will pay off. As of now, back to studying.

.

Don't know what you're on about. I was being serious.
Really, OP, DITCH Kaplan. At least their Biology section has the detail in it to make it somewhat worthwhile; but you're better off spending your money on EK, TPR or TBR.

So sad... I wish I read more comments on SDN before buying Kaplan material. After reviewing their material, I agree- waste of time and money.

It's pretty much a smaller version of TPRHL.
