Hello!
I'm a non-traditional student. I have a low undergrad GPA but have gone back to school for the past 2 years to raise my GPA. When I do the calculation for the GPA I come out with a 3.1 due to my recent improved grades, but the PTCAS is listing it as 2.96 which instantly disqualifies me for some of my schools I've applied to.
note: the past 2 years are *not* retakes for better grades, they are all prerequisites that I did not do during my undergrad.

So I'm curious how they calculate the cumulative GPA, if I need to ask them about it, or if I need to clarify something on my application?
My application reads this way:
Cumulative Undergraduate (quality pts)500.3 (credit hrs)169.00 (GPA)2.96
Post-Baccalaureate (quality pts)160.0 (credit hrs)42.00 (GPA)3.81
Graduate 0.0 0.00 0.00
Overall 500.3 169.00 2.96

So it appears that it is not calculating the classes I've gone back and taken as part of the cumulative GPA since I took them after I graduated. Is this normal? Did I do something wrong?

You should call them about it. I had to call PTCAS a couple times cause they miscalculated my GPA the first time.

The PTCAS website says "GPA excludes postbaccalaureate undergraduate courses." However, I think it would be worth calling to ask and clarify. Who knows, they may be willing to change it for you.
