How does PTCAS work after you accept somewhere?

I know that somewhere on PTCAS schools can see where you have been accepted/denied, but can we see that? As soon as you put a deposit somewhere, do the other schools that you applied to get notified? I am just curious if I should let the other schools I applied to and haven't heard back yet know that I have already accepted admission elsewhere.

I'm wondering the same thing. I still haven't heard back from 4 of the schools I applied to but I've received 3 acceptances and need to make a decision asap. Do i need to notify the schools that I haven't heard from yet that I have accepted elsewhere? Or wait u till they contact me to make a decision?

At one interview I was at, the chair of the program said people accept positions and put deposits down while waiting for others to still contact them. Just how it works if some move faster than others. I would only tell the program you are waiting for you have been accepted elsewhere if that the program who has already accepted you is where you really want to go and wouldn't go to the schools you are waiting for anyways. Otherwise hold as many chances you can until you make a final decision. At least that's how I see it and I don't think it's wrong to leave the remaining ones open. I thought I read they can't see other schools decisions until the cycle is done.

Put down a deposit at your top choice of the three, decline the other two, and wait to hear back from the remaining schools. No need to inform schools you haven't heard back from. They know and expect that you will be hearing from different schools at different times. It's common and accepted practice to put down a deposit someplace and later withdraw if you get into a different school that you would prefer.

See http://www.ptcas.org/WhatHappensNext/ under "Sharing of Admission Decisions"

Once a school accepts you, they can see how many offers of admission you have received/accepted. They can't see other admissions decisions (if a program has waitlisted or denied admission to you), or anything else. If a program hasn't made a decision on your application or waitlists you, they can't see your admissions status at other schools and don't get informed of any deposit you may have made.
