I just found out something called pre-matching is not being implemented anymore since 2011. I would just like to know how this would impact the chances of an IMG (like myself) in getting into a US residency program (harder, easier etc...).

Sorry to say but harder. Before IMGs could develop a relationship a program and pre-match there and not worry about being competing for the spot with AMGs or other IMG/FMGs. Now, with everyone in the same application pool IMG/FMG applications are considered alongside AMGs which receive preference at the vast majority of programs.

I'm an IMG and I'm actually glad there's no more pre-matching quite honestly.

It just sounds like yet another way that people with lucky connections can get through the door. I'd rather just go in there for the standard interview like everyone else and level the playing field.

Well, level the playing field among IMGs. It's still grossly biased toward AMGs.
