Ahhh yes, interventional radiology. I've read something on this board that indicates that IR is in danger due to other sub-specialties with similar responsibilities such as interventional cardio, neurointerventional, vascular surgery, etc. Do inspiring IR's need to be concerned?

In general it depends on where you are. At some institutions IRs are taking away most of the business of vasc surgeons and at others it's the other way aruond. But regardless there will always be procedures for IR. I'm at an institution where IR is small and vasc surgery does most of the big and cool procedures. Nonetheless the IR docs are still very busy doing drainages, line insertions, and some other "notascool" procedures. And don't worry, they still roll in serious cash if you're concerned about that.
