SOURCE: Pharmacist Letter updates about NY
The proposed rule change that will authorize pharmacists and their supervised staff to perform vision testing for people who want to obtain or renew their drivers license has been adopted. top
Regulators want to shorten the lines at the DMV and make license renewal easier for drivers.
There were no changes to the version of the rule we told you about. Pharmacists will test only for a minimum visual acuity of 20/40 in either or both eyes. You will report the results to the Department of Motor Vehicles through an electronic registry.
The electronic reporting will make it easy for the DMV to verify if the provider is authorized to do the test. It might also help to shift the whole driver license renewal process to the Internet.
The new rule went into effect on March 13, 2013.
HOW DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE??? and How do you sumbit reimbursement for this service? What are lawmakers doing and thinking?
