I just got an email saying my letters have been uploaded.

Should I tell the schools this, or do they already know somehow? Also how long would it take for them to download the letters?

I've sent in 20 secondaries already. THis is the last piece. Kinda exciting 😀

the schools know....don't ask me how...its black magic to me

You don't need to tell the schools anything. VirtualEval is a beautiful thing. As the schools receive and log your virtual evaluation, they will update your status and (usually) let you know. If you're concerned, you can call them, but they're usually pretty good about updating it within a week or so. 👍

Sounds a bit long to me. I thought we were done with the unnecessary wait times after AMCAS went through  🙄

What if you add a letter late in the game - assuming it's uploaded to your Virtual Eval file from the school you are sending it FROM - does it get automatically placed into your file at the school you are sending to TO?

well, they will get it instantly, but how quickly your status is updated will depend on the style of the individual school. 🙂

I don't thik so. You would have to resend the whole file, I beleive. 😕

That I have no idea about...I would check with your school's premed committee about that one. I know my school will not add letters to a student's file once they have written their committee letter.

I love the avatar!

So, basically if we have finished Virtual evals and checked the schools that we want- the school now can just upload the letters. We do not have to do anything special...right.

Thanks,

PG

Can somebody tell me why my school charges $5 per virtual eval?? I understood when it went in a nice envelope and everything but...

mine charges $6. everyone loves getting paid extra for the service it is their job to provide 🙄

A nice envelope? It's VIRTUALevals. As in they're uploaded onto a server of some sort. At least that's the way my school does it (except for UCLA, which doesn't participate).

the school is charged a minimal fee for using virtualeval (I think my premed advisor said it costs our school $400 or something like that), I guess your college doesn't want to front the bill so you get to. Its really worth it.

They were saying they understood why $ for a paper, but virtual (without an envelope) seems a little crazy to charge. It's $6 a pop for me too, which seems ridiculous to charge to access a darned PDF file.

see my post before yours...

somebody has to be paid to implement this system...ideally, AMCAS would be free too, but money makes people work

wow, that stinks! my school doesn't charge anything, but they have very strict rules as far as getting your information and letters to them, meeting with their committee, etc. and it's true that they don't come in an envelope but are simply transferred as a PDF or word doc or something of the like.
