Hello All,

I will be applying next cycle, and my school is on a trimester system, so when I apply, I will not have my final grade for my last trimester during the application process. Would medical school want your final transcript or just a list of class you are taking when you are applying?

Additionally, I wanted to know how would Adcom look upon having more leadership positions than clinical exposure?
When I apply, I will have 4 years worth of leadership position ranging from Resident Assitant to Student Ambassador while around 50 hours (hopefully more) worth of clinical if not more.

Thank you!

Schools won't have any of your grades after you hit submit on amcas in the summer, so in an update letter you would provide new grades etc. Prior to matriculation, you'll have to submit a final transcript, and schools will likely have your acceptance be contingent on you maintaining some minimum gpa during the application cycle. Most likely in an update letter you would also include classes you are currently taking etc.

Some universities won't release your transcript until you complete a current term. And some med schools won't accept it either (Texas public's come to mind, eg). For others, assuming you have the common minimum of 90 semester hour equivalents in trimester hours, you'd be fine entering current class hours as "Future".

Fifty hours of clinical experience is on the low side, especially if it includes your passive Shadowing, as well as more active, patient-interactive experiences. Strong Leadership experience will not compensate. JMO.

Having a lot of leadership is definitely good, but it can't compensate for little clinical exposure. Try to get some more clinical experience before applying if possible.

Leadership wont compensate for clinical exposure (as those have said above).

It does make for great secondary essay material though.

Clickbait level 9/10...I was hoping for something way more exciting
